Kerry's Race
I have entered this race determined to win.
Not knowing what lies ahead,
Not knowing where this journey will end.
I am running this race as fast as I can,
But before I know it I've become a young man.
As I run through the clouds to a life here after,
I remember all the joy;
I remember all the laughter.
Where not even a lark, but only angels fly
With angel wings I'm lifted on high,
But I got here too fast, did not say good-bye.
As I look back to my family's pain and sorrow,
I want to assure them there will be a better tomorrow.
In the high, untrespassed sanctity of space,
The race almost won as I enter heaven's gate -
My hand stretched out to touch Jesus' face.
